OUR PROGRAMS

Baby Playing with Abacus

INFANTS

An ideal environment for infants is one that stimulates their senses. At Tall Pines Preschool our infant preschool teachers provide a warm and secure place for children to grow at their own pace. Babies are held during feedings, rocked to feel loved and spend time on their tummies to discover the world around them. We play soothing music for nap time and sign language is also introduced as a way to communicate before they have developed their language skills.

We consistently evaluate each child based on age-appropriate benchmarks in order to assess individual growth and development.  This allows us to communicate with families and set realistic goals that will set your child up for success and the pride that comes with achievement.

TODDLERS

Our toddler preschool classrooms provide an environment of explorations for our students. Our teachers work to foster skills like listening, learning how to treat one another, problem solving techniques and manners. They also foster skills like pushing and pulling, sorting objects by color and size and stacking objects. Tall Pines Preschool curriculum reinforces these age-appropriate developments through songs, finger plays, short stories, center time and circle time.

PRE K-2

Early preschoolers (typically 2-3 years old) continue to explore the world around them. At this age, children are more mobile and enjoy discovering new things in their environment. Our interactive educational items stimulate the whole child. Including songs, puzzles, games, and interaction with their classmates to promote socialization skills. Routine and structure are extremely important for this age so we make sure to incorporate both into each child’s day. Additionally, we will actively assist with toilet training for any students and families who are ready to collaborate efforts while at school.

Language development is rapid at this age, so we also take this opportunity to increase their vocabulary. All lessons are presented in a way to help develop each child’s imagination by learning through play. Our students learn to sing the alphabet song, identify animals and begin learning rote counting. Social development is typically one of the more difficult concepts for young preschoolers to master, so we spend extra time on this with them. We introduce self-control and encourage sharing through a variety of group activities.

PRE K-3

Because preschoolers (typically 3-4 years old) are more adventure-some and curious about their surroundings, our teachers stay one step ahead of their students. Each day is thoroughly planned out with a variety of hands-on activities to encourage learning and socialization. Students will be taught to write their names and recognize letters, numbers, colors and shapes. Our teachers also begin to introduce concepts like opposites, identify emotions and basic directional skills (over/under, etc.). At this time we put extra focus on self-awareness for each child. We also foster independence by helping children master self-help skills.

PRE KINDERGARTEN

In our Pre-Kindergarten classes, our teachers work closely with each of our students to perfect and sharpen all of the skills they will need for Kindergarten. It is our ultimate goal to ensure that all of our students are emotionally, physically, cognitively and behaviorally prepared for the demands of a Kindergarten classroom.  We consistently evaluate each child based on age-appropriate benchmarks in order to assess individual growth and development. This allows us to communicate with families and set realistic goals that will set your child up for success and the pride that comes to achievement. Over the course of their year in this classroom students need to have well-developed self-esteem, be able to follow instructions, recognize authority, understand and follow schedules, communicate effectively, listen attentively, practice self-control, get along with and relate to others, manage bathroom needs and actively participate in physical activities.

In order to help our students master each of these fundamentals and exceed the local Kindergarten benchmarks, our teachers use fun academic reinforcements in their daily lessons. Our students will be taught to easily recognize colors, shapes, letters and numbers.  A passion and love for reading will also be passed down to them through involved and interactive storytimes. They will be able to retell stories and in the process learn to sequence. Simple analogies (sky/blue, grass/green) are also introduced to expand thinking skills.

By the end of each student’s time in our Pre-K class, they are confident and we are proud of all that they have learned and the person they have become. It is very hard to say good-bye as they leave for Kindergarten, but we know they are well prepared to begin the next phase in their lives.
